THE WOMEN 1 OF FRANCE. "Vive la Republic!" "Vive belle France!" von cry. Freely giving the ones you lovedj Sending them forth to die, To fight for the old "Tricolor, * To die but not in vain, That France from out the asliel Might rise in peace again. At Verdun, bloody Yerdun, In their countless thousands slain, Whilst as they gave their life 'blood, You suffered grief and pain. Sufl'ered the bitter agony That conies of "motherlove* '! Counting not the awful cost • But trusting God above. "Vive belle France!" you cry, *"!!' "Vive 1c Republic!" At Verdun, Mrssines, on la Somme, They showed von they could die; Die fighting for their country, Singing I'lle Marseilleise. That la belle Franco might rise again As in the olden days. Women of France, we salute yon, Knowing its not in vain That you bear your grief in silence, For countless loved ones slainHaving a perfect trust and faith • Despite yoiu bitter pain Tiiat from hei lorn and Woody fields Belle France shall rise again. —-H..T.E.
