Sykcs lias been admitted to the hospital at F?ath<:rs ton Camp. In the hospital and progress report published yesterday the following Tarauaki names appear:—Not severe euses: R. Andrews, I'. W. Houlton, and R. A. Swinton (all of New Plymouth).
The disastrous fire at Foster's Hotel, Wanganui, caught at least two wellknown (Stratford residents, one of whom had started out on a three-weeks holiday trip, and both had the misfortune to lose all their baggage—l'ost. A Press Association telegram from Auckland reports the death of Mr. Gerhard John Mueller, ex-Commissioner of Crown Lands for Auckland and exAssistant Surveyor-General, aged 83. He had been in New Zealand since 1858, and had been connected with the Civil Service since 1860.
Mannia Presbyterian Church was crowded to the doors on Wednesday evening, when a special service was held for the unveiling of mural tablets to the memory of Lieut. L. W. Meuli and Corporal A. ,T. Gilmour, and of a roll of honor containing the names of the members and adherents of the Presbyterian Church in Manaiu district who have gone to the front. Appropriate hymns were sung, and portions of the Scriptures read.—Star.
