ACCIDENT AT WAITARA.
BOY FATALLY INJURED'Art accident occurred at AVaitara on Tuesday evening in wliioli a little boy named Roy Samuel Knuefrey, eleven years of age, son of William S. Knuckey, farmer, AVaitara, received injuries from which he died in the New. Plymouth Hospital early yesterday morning. It appears that the boy was in the habit of riding a pony to school and back dally. He had returned from school on Tuesday afternoon, and at about r> o'clocu went on his pony to bring in a calf. His mother had seen him riding the pony (which was a perfectly quiet one) across the paddock and on looking again in the boy's direction a moment or two later saw the boy lying on the ground and the pony some distance away. The boy, when discovered, was unconscious, and it is supposed he fell off the pony and received a kick from it. Dr. Campbell, of Waitara, was immediately summoned, and when he saw the boy he ordered his removal to the New Plymouth Hospital. He •tvas brought in to the liospitfil on Tuesday night', but died early yesterday morning .INQUEST OPENED. An inquest was opened morning before the ©istrkt Coroner (Mr. A. Crooke, S.M.). The police were represented by Sergeant Treliey. ■Evidence of identification was given by the father of deceased and the inquiry was adjourned till 10.30 a.m. on Monday. The adjourned inquest concerning the death of Mr, J- W. Taylor, who died from injuries received while bathing at the. East End on Sunday last, will also be resumed on Monday morning.
