MEMORIAL TO THE LATE REV. A. -11. COLVILE. The adjourned meeting of the New Plymouth branch of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals wne continued yesterday afternoon, when there were present: The Rev. F. G. Harvie (in the chair), Mrs. Wilson, Miss Curtis, Ven. Archdeacon Evans and Messrs iPaton, SandfoYd and Hughes. It was decided to ask the inspector to make a tour down the coast and around the Mountain in order to investigate some of the complaints received from those districts. It was also decided to ask Mr. Sandford to endeavor to form a branch at Opunako during his visit there. It was resolved, on the motion of Mr. Paton, seconded by the Ven. Archdeacon Evans, that the sum of £25 be invested, and the income derived therefrom bo used to provide prizes to be given annually for essays on the society's work, and that the amount, together with any additions, be regarded as an endowment in memory of the late Rev. A. IT. Col- ] vile, founder of the New Plymouth brunch of'the society. Mrs. Wilson at once offered to donate to the committee the full amount required. 1 The committee heartily thanked Mrs. Wilson for her generous gift. Mrs. Wilson, Mrs. Martin, Archdeacon Evans and Mr. Hughes were appointed a committee to settle the conditions under which the prizes should be awarded. The chairman was requested to acquaint Mrs. Colvile with what had been done.
