The acceptances received 011 Momlav evening for to-morrow's races at Wanga' nui are very satisfactory, and the list» ' include a good number of Taranak ' horses. The Wangaijui Cup, as expected, 1 has not drawn a very numerous lield 1 but quality is there, and Sasanof, Menelaus, Wishful, Client, Snub, and Dingh have only to go to the posii to provide j an excellent race. The Flying Handica] lias drawn a splendid lot, nineteen higliclasj sprinters being paid up for, while the minor events The meeting promises to provide splendid racing, and a good number ol Taranaki sports are likely to attend. The main defections from the Wanganui Cup arc Nobleman. Mullingar. Cynic, Toatere, Paraoa, White Blaze, and Impediment. On Egmont Cup form Dingle would keep them all very busy. Nothing but Menelaus is being asked for in the big race, but ilie Melbourne Cup winner, Sasanof, would only require to be well to beat at level weights. Wishful is now well up in the weights, and 8.8 may anchor him. Client is galloping well, and those who believe in the axiom "horses for courses'' must give the Eordell horse more than a rough chance- Snub is well treated with 7.8, but is probably on the down grade The imported Alino has yet to show form in this country, and Dingle may beat the light-weights. With Croesus, Nanna, Impediment, and Koesian engaged in the Plying Handicap none but. quick beginners will have much chance, The connections of this quartette are alleged to be sanguine of success, and the winner may be hidden amongst them. On what we saw last week the rapidly improving Koesian should hold the Taranaki division "safe, but whether he can foot it with Nanna remains to be seen. A penalty of 711> brings Volo's weight in the Stewards' Handicap up to Ssl. He is within olb of a good one in Pionnuala, but may trouble the AucklanderCheddar and Astor are also well in. Bon d'Or and White Ranger have been running well enough of late to focus attention on them in the Petre Hack Handicap. Sir Fisher. Stvrax, Sir Sool, Arlington, and Portland Lady are evenly weighted in the Westmeiv Hurdles, but Sir Solo, 011 Ellcrslie form, may have most friends. Arlington has been doing big things up to a mile and thrcequarters, and the extra two furlongs may not trouble him. Collector, who was running on well at Hawera, may beat the weightsStaccato, 011 last week's, showing, must command respect in the Juvenile Handicap, as must Signorellu In the Wiritoa Hack Handicap. Turangapito has gone absolutely sour ' on the racing game, and 011 Monday morning it took a man with a stockwhip a solid half hour to get the outlaw up to the barrier. He will have to mend h's manners before he will be worth putrwi a match on, | Wi'slnn hns been sprinting in great ■ -ni' 1 the last two mornings. "Take -ioon now, 'bhoya. ' r ie racing carnival at Wanganui opens >':orrow with the gallops. On Fridav ■ -ere will 'be trots, and 011 Saturday the final of the gallops. I n addition', the I swimming championships are set down for Thursday and Friday evenings.
