"PARK DAY."

THE DATE FIXED. The meeting convened by the Pukekura Park Board last evening for the purpose of making arrangements for the forthcoming "Park Day" was not largely attended. Apologies for non-attendance were received from Messrs E. P. Webster, F. W. G. McLeod and Jas. Clarke. Mr. R. C. Hughes (chairman of the board) stated that although notices had been sent out rather generously, lie was sorry to see such a poor attendance. He reported that he had got into communication with Wanganui, where a motor gymkhana was recently held, and read reports of same. If they hold a motor gymkhana, there seemed to be an opinion abroad that the racecourse should be the place for the function. Mr. E. Sole thought they should hold the gathering in their own grounds. Mr. C. E. llcllringer detailed the lines upon which a recent motor carnival had been held in Nelson. On the scale 011 which he would like to see the day carried out, they could hardly hold it in the park, Mr. P. Stainton stated that a motor gymkhana would prove a decided novelty. He did not think the park would be big enough, unless they limited the number of entries in the competitions. Again, it was a question if, in going to the racecourse, they would lose the grip of the crowd, which would not be so centralised. After considerable discussion, it was decided, 011 the motion of Mr. C. E. Bellringer, that a function be held 011 March 7, and that the following be asked to act as a general committee: Messrs. J. Haydan, C. Sadler, P. "Stainton, E. P. Webster, C. C. Ward, S. ft. Smith, E. Sc-lc, H. Moon, E. Whittle, J. Clarke, F. W. G. McLeod, F. Coleman, K. Bennoch, T. Petty, D. Cameron, W. Duncan, F. \V.
