NEW PLYMOUTH BOROUGH COUNCIL.

STREETS SUB-COMMITTEE. The Streets Sub-committee reported to Monday's meeting of the Council recommending that Mr. A. G- Mason I># informed that the Council regrets it cannot see its way to remove the bank in front of his property, section 1141 Victoria road; that the Borough Engiheer be authorised to form and gravel Norman street and improve the entrance thereto. (Estimated cost £114); the question of the culverts and crossings to Mr. Blanchett's property in Vogeltown was referred to the Borough Engineer with power to act; that the Borough Engineer be authorised to proceed with the asphalting of paths in the following streets: (a) Queen street from Devon street to St. Aubyn street east side, and from Devon street to King street 011 west side (estimated cost £96). (b) St. Aubyn street on south side from Egmont street to Queen street (estimated cost £sl 10s). (c) Gill street on south side from Currie strict to 'Brougham street ( £4!) ]Os). (d) Currie street 'both sides from Devon street to Gill street and west side only from Gill street to railway gates (estimated cost £l-21 18s fid); that the suggested arrangement for the widening of Carrington road at 'Mr. H. .Mace's property he given effect to; that after the reforming of the following streets has been finally authorised to tar seal Avenue road (14 feet wide) and Tukapo road (nine feet wide). RESERVES COMMITTEE. The Reserves Committee reported recommending that the Royal Life Saving Society be granted the use of the baths on the evening of March 8 from 6.30 to 6 o'clock for the final tests of the Life Saving Competition with permission to charge for admission, pro* vided 10 per cent, of the proceeds be paid to the Council; that the baths custodian he informed that the Council cannot see its way to grant him any increase in salary ; that the Railway Department he asked to erect a notice both in Maori and English in the portion.of tho Railway Reserve at Moturoa formerly used as a native burial ground the no further burials shall be made there; that the rental of the Council's seaside cottages be 30s per week each including ""'•ting; that the Borough Engineer be authorised to repair the downpipe at the old Town Hall; that the Borough Engineer be instructed to repair the Esplanade from Bayly road to the Council's cottages.
