PROPOSED TARANAKI BISHOPRIC.

A meeting of the executive committee j ill connection with the proposed new diocese was held at Eltham yesterday. Present:—Ven. Archdeacon Evans (New Plymouth), Revs. F. 0. Harvic (New Plymouth), O. 11. Circuit Cowen (Ilawera), R. H. Holiday (Eltham), E. L. Harvey (Inglmvood), Messrs T. C. Fookes (Stratford), S. Percy-Smith (Now Plymouth), \V. A. Parkinson (Ha-wera), and Ueo IL linckeridge (liltbam). Mr. Fookes was appointed chairman. A letter was received from Mr. Bucker;dge regarding the organising of the necessary endowment fund for the proposed diocese, in which he stated he was of opinion that it would he impossible tor him to organise the endowment fund by himself within a reasonable time, and suggested that the effort should be i made pritnarily by means of a mission. (in the motion of Archdeacon Evans, ?econdcd by Mr. liuckeridge, it ivfis revolved that the Rev. Grant Cowen be a-ked to organise a mission among the clergy within the proposed diocese and lan interchange of proac-hers between the clergy for a period of two to four weeks. Such missions to start about the middle of April. The Rev. E. L. Harvie relinquished the jbon- secretaryship, and Mr. Geo. H. liuckeridge was appointed to fill the position. The Rev. E. L. Harvie was then appointed to the executive. The chairman (Mr. T. C. Fookes) moved the folio,ving motion, which was carried: "That this meeting of the executive committee in connection with the proposed Taranaki bishopric express their deep regret at the death of the Rev. Algernon Holland Colvile, and keen appreciation of the devoted and loyal service rendered by him to the church in Taranaki."
