THE SECOND DIVISION.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE BOARD'S POLICY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. A general meeting of the Second Division League to-night passed the following resolutions: "That this meeting of members of the. Second Division League, emphatically protests against the action of the Financial Assistance Board in rescinding grants of financial assistance on the ground that separation allowances have 'been increased, and calls upon the Minister of Defence to take immediate steps to protect the interests of our soldiers on service and their dependents 'by instructing the Board to take no further action along these lines, and 'by reinstating such grants as may already have been cancelled." The League also resolved: "That this meeting of the Second Division reservists strongly contends that the present scale of separation allowances is quite inadequate to secure the -preservation of the homes of our soldiers, and urges upon the OovenuueVi the. nemsstty of re-opening this matter immediately upon reassembly of Parliament, with a view to increasing the allowances to wives and children and making adequate provision for widowed mothers.
