GOLD-MINING ON THE COAST. Wellington, Feb. 16. The Westland Gold Prospecting Syndicate, of which Mr- David Ziman is managing director, has purchased Workaup No. 2 dredge, the largest and most powerful yet built in the Dominion. The machine is to be reim-ved to the Arahura valley, near Hokitka, over which ths syndicate nolds excensive mining concessions. This, coupled with the discovery of a further goldbearing reef (the third) at a depth'of 1350 feet in the North -Blaekwaler mine, should help to stimulate the gold-mining industry.
