'.•,.;&,„ , V The East End Reserve Committee, tok' ing advantage of the Royal Life-Saving Society's Tabor Shield competition, which is to be held at the East End beach on Thursday afternoon next, has organised a monster picnic for that day< An attractive programme has been arranged. The swimming sports in the river will include 50 yards handicap races for boys and girls, the prize in each, case being a Bilver medal, with name engraved. There will also be 100-yardi» handicaps for both boys and girls, the prizes for these events being bathing costumes. There will also be diving and other aquatic competitions. In addition there will be side-shows and other attractions such as quoiting competitions, for which there will be pri7.es for the most successful lady and gentleman. There will be ladies' and children's races, cocoa* nut shie.i, bran tub, and numerous other novelty items. SpeeM attractions are offered for picnic parties. Messrs. P. A.' Schwartz and N. A. Christensen will give an exhibition of fancy swimming and diving in tie afternoon. The charge will be sixpence} school children being admitted free. In the evening a long-night dance will be held, for which a charge of Is Od is to be made for gentlemen and la for ladies. The music will be supplied by Mi's, George's orchestra.
