PERSONAL.
For twenty years Mr. E. Dixon tiai held the position of circuit steward of the Hawera Methodist Church, and on his relinquishing the office he was presented by the members of the church with a large framed photograph of the church officials, eulogistic reference being made to his long and faithful service.
Dr. A. Harvey, of Patea and Waverly, is returning to the front shortly. He will be succeeded by Dr. Collins in charge of the. Pa tea-Waverley district, which the Defence Department has laid down mutt be worked by one doctor whilst the war lasts. Dr. Harvey went through the Somme campaign and was invalided home, subsequently resuming practice at Waverley and Patca.
Tho news of the sudden death of Mr. Alex. P. Webster, Australasian Sope.'ntendent of the Bank of Australasia, will come as a painful shock to a h>rge circle of friends and relatives in WanganuL Mr. Webster was well known in this town, having been stationed here for some' time during the early tfays of Ma career, He was w man of sterling character, respected and loved by all who knew him, and was an exceptionally gifted business man, with high administrative ablity. His career was a brilliant one, rising rapidly in the service of the Bank to the high position which he held at tho time of his death.
