AN APPEAL.
Tlie Mayoress of New Plymouth, Mrs. C. H. Burgess, has issued the following appeal:— The people of New Plymouth and surrounding district have more than once very generously sent in gifts to the patriotic depot, for the use of our men during the long tedious voyage on troopships. If there are any games, hooks, boxing gloves, punch balls, music, musical instruments, gramaphone records, etc., in fact anything that will help- to make things brighter, left to give away among soldiers' friends, the Mayoress will he very pleased to receive them and forward on. The cases are forwarded monthly with a donation from the men's patriotic committee, but really it is a matter for the whole district to contribute to, as every man from Taranaki shares in these gifts. Letters of thanks from mothers have been received from Ifawcra, Jnglewood, I and elsewhere whose hoys have participated. Cakes, sweets, lemons, etc., will also be very acceptable.
