WAITARA.

Waitara, Friday. - (From Our Own Correspondent). Yesterday afternoon Mr. T. (J. Hirst, .who for the past eight years has bwii manager of the Bank of Australasia in New Plymouth and Waitara, was the recipient of an address and gold albert with aii inscribed medallion from the clients of the bank at Waitara. On their hehalf, Mr. T. Buchanan expressed the regret they all felt at Mr. Hirst's departure, referring to the friendly feeling that had always existed between the bank's clients and the manager. He asked Mr. Hirst's acceptance t>f the address and chain. The speaker also welcomed the new malinger, Mr. Robertshaw, whom 1«; said was not a stranger to the district, hating been in the New Plymouth branch some fifteen years ago. He trusted tha,t the same amicable feelings, that had existed during Mr. Hirst's term would continue. Mr. Robertshaw thanked those present for the welcome and said he could only hope they would say the same thing's about him when the time for his departure came as they had said about the departing guest. He would endeavor to do as well foi- his clients as Mr. Hirst had done- He expressed regret at Mr. Hirst's departure and would like to repeat what he had heard both in Nev Zealand and Australia of Mr. Hirst's character "that he was a straight goer." and when one had this said about him he could not wish for anything better. Mi". Hirst in reply thanked his friends for coming to say good bye. and also for the kindly thoughts that had prompted them in making such a handsome present. It would not need, this to remind him of Ids Waitara. friends, hut he would always treasure it as showing the good feeling that existed between them Mi. "W. F. Jenkins also expressed Tegret at Mr. Hirst's departure and wished him the best of good luck in his new home and hoped that they would see him hack again some time.
