Badges will be presented to mothers of sons at- the front, and a general invitation is extended to all toothers, Wives and sisters, to attend. Perhaps later on an invitation will be extended to the fathers to be present. Several of the witnesses engaged in the charge 6f incendiarism preferred against Clark are leaving far Wanganui to-morrow. The sessions open on Monday.

The settlers of Toko road mustered in large numbers at the hall last evening, the occasion being a farewell tendered to H. L. Lucena, who is leaving tomorrow for the Homeland. A presentation was made (that of a wristlet watch) by Mrs. J. B. Hinc. Mr. Lucena is off to do his little bit, but he is going to do his turn in the air, having qualified for the position at the G'hristehurch Aviation School. A good number of New -Zealanders have qualified for positions in the Royal Flying Corps, but probably the Toko representative is the first Taranaki "flier" who learnt the routine of his profession in the Dominion. He was the recipient of many from his numerous friends, and good 'wishes were expressed for his future career. A feature of the entertainment, was that the musical and instrumental items were all contributed by ladies, those assisting in this direction being Misses Mannsell, D. Sine, Cooper, Curtin and Towers. Mrs. Mannsell provided the music for the dance, whilst the ladies also deserve more than a word of commendation for the supper provided. "During February visitors to Stratford are advised to keep a watch on the many flxcellcnt lines of jewellery, stationery, etc., being offered by, Mr. Ci. E, James. It is surprising the sterling value being given in the many lines he is offering; Ladies' handbags are selling freely, satisfied customers realiisng that here they obtained the very best at lowest prices. Just step inside and note the grand bargains.
