FIGHTING IN FINLAND. BOLSHEVIKS CLAIM SUCCESSES. London, Fen. 7. Tiip Stockholm correspondent of the Morning Post says that the Bed Guards in Finland have appealed to Swed'n to recognise the new Socialist Government. Sweden will probably ignore tlie communication. General Mannerheim, after several days' regular trench warfare, followed by street warfare, has recaptured Ulcaborg. The town was greatly damaged 1 fire, and hundreds were killed on each side. The Red .Guards decreed the death pviialty for all White Guards taken prisoner. Trotsky sent a message: "Greeting to the heroic working classes now wresting power from the bourgeoisie. The Finnish Republic is making itself a model Socialist autonomy. Long live our sister •Socialist Finland." The absenc of reports .from Trotsky is explained by the action of German agents in cutting the telegraph wires to suppress n?ws of the German domestic troubles. The Bplshevik agency reports flint the Red Guards captured Tammerfors. in Finland, after a brief battle, defeating 10,00 ft White Guards commanded by General Mannerheim. CIVIL WAR IN FULL SWING. MEN MURDERED AND PROPERTY DESTROYED. Received Feb. 8, 10 p.m. Renter Service. Stockholm, Feb. 7. The White Guards at Wasa report that civil war is in full swing in Finland. Twenty prominent Helsingfors men were murdered. Properties and farms are being daily burned and pillaged. Unarmed .people are be' ig killed, especially in the scruth-west. The capture of Kemi and Tornea is • greatly to the advantage of the White ! Guards.
HELSINGFORS THREATENED. RUSSIANS GETTING MASTERY. Received Feb. 0, 12 55 a.m. Stockholm, Feb. 8. The Tid Ningen states that the Russians are ousting tho Finnish Maximalists at Helsingfors. Russian reinforcements ar? arriving, and the Baltic fleet is threatening Helsingfors from Svenborg.
