Sir Douglas Haig reports: We raided » post south-east of Quoant, killing and taking prisoner several of the garrison. We repulsed raiders westward of La Bassec. The enemy'B aTtiUerv is active north - Hest of St- Queulin and east of Monchv le Preux. Our aeroplanes dropned over a ton of Mmbs on targets behind the enemy's lines. LIVELY ARTILLERYING. GERMAN ATTACKS FAIL. Received Feb. 8, 10 p.m. Paris, Feb. 7. A French communique says: There was ike liveliest reciprocal artillerying in . the Ch&vigny—Porgny—Filain region, north of the Aisne, in the sector Sammogneux—Hill 344, on the right of the Meuse, and Hartmannweiler. After violent artillery preparation the Germans made an unsuccessful attempt to penetrate our lines at Banholzt, in Alsace, in two places. A SUCCESSFUL RAID. Received Feb. 8, 8.25 p.m. London, Feb. 7. Sir Douglas Haig reports: We successfully raided east of Armentieres; taking prisoners, There was hostile artillerying at Cambrai and Lens. ' RTILLERY AND AVIATION WORKLondon, Feb. "• Sit Douglas Haig reports: Hostile artillery is active in the neighborhood of Havrincourt Wood, southward and northward of Lens, and in the neighborhood of the Menin road. Our aeroplanes dropped five tons of wtplosives on railway stations, sidings, and other targets, also one and a half tons on an aerodrome south-eastward of Cambrai, and on billets. All our machines returned. BELGIAN FRONTIER RETURNEDAmsterdam, Feb. 7. The Dutch press reports that the Belgian frontier has oeen closed for a month. The Germans are building barracks at Aix-la-Chapelle capable of housing a hunted thousapd men. BAAHBRUCK BOMBED. London, Feb. 7. A.French communique says: The important railway junction at Saarbruck was successfully bombed by our squadron, who were attacked by several groups of enemy aeroplanes. All our ut&j returned.
