THE EMPIRE. ALICE BRADY -SCORES BIG SUCCESS IN WORLD FEATURE. A very pretty World story with the name "Then I'll Come Back to You" was the star of the new programme at the Empire last night. This interesting .film is an adaptation of Larry Evans' widely-read book, and with a facile Miss Alice Brady as heroine, Mr. Jack Sherrill makes a big success of the part of j Steve O'Mara, hero. The plot introduces O'Mara, a young railroad engineer, w.lio is in love with tho girl (Alice Brady). He is more or less involved in the rivalry between two great companies, and is pressing forward the construction Of a new line at top capacity. But the outside firm hire men to make his way as difficult as possible, and obstacle?, hinder hiin at every turn*. The only offset.against these harassing difficulties la his tender love for the gij-I, and eventually this systematic blocking ends in a stern and very thrilling light.. Right, from beginning to end the'story is fascinating, and the. very pretty incidental efietts hold the attention strongly. ' A feature Sf the picture is the , stirring sight of a great' log-dr.ive down a turbulent river. The supports are specially designed to please, and include the si\'t. episode of the super-serial, "Tho Secret Kingdom." Thjs programme will be screened to-night- and finally to-morrow night. The Story tells how Richard Carver (Carl Von Schiller) goes to Alaska in search of the mother of his promised bride, .Adrian Courtney (Gladys 1-rockwell), He finds that Valerie Marchmont, the mother, is a worthless woman, and he decides not to tell the girl. But Adrian has come to Alaska, and found out for herself. In the end, Valeria redeems her past life by saving her daughter from disgrace. She is killed in* a struggle with the. saloon owner who is trying to force his attentions on Adrian and she. leaves her daughter and Ttiehnrd sorrowing by her side. Fatty Arlniekle stars on this programme in an hilarious two. reel comedy Fatly makes a decided "splash" in this laughable picture'.
