THE WILY HUNS. FRUSTRATE BRITISH BLOCKADE. AGENTS BUY UP RAW MATERIALS. Received Feb. 5, 1.40 a.m. New York, Feb. 4. The Government seizure of Hugo Schmidt's secret papers reveals that Germany frustrated the British blockade by ending hundreds of agents to enemy countries to establish banks and buy raw materials. The agents purchased the United States' cotton, British South Africa's wool, and India's jute. The papers show that Germany bought a million dollars worth of materials from unsuspecting Americans, Britishers, Italians, and Scandinavians.
