C2 MEN.
THE QUESTION OF REEXAMINATION. Wellington, Jan. 31. The Minister for D.-'fence announces recently that men of the Second Division who arc classed C-, that is, unfit for service of any kind, would not be re-examined. It should be understood that this general rule will not prevent the recruiting authorities securing the re-cxaminatiou of any reservist who is believed to have deceived the medical officers. A certain amount of malingering has been detected in JJie past, and the officers are always on the alert for it, though the proportion of men who try to dodge service is very small. The suggestion has 'been made that the Minister's announcement means that a special concession is being given to Second Division men. This is not the case. The instruction given the medical boards, which are now composed of experienced officers, is that no reservist is to be classed Ci unless he is not only unfit for active service, but is also not likely to he made, fit by special training in the CI camp. The men who are likely to he made fit by this preparatory training will lie classed CI at once, and will be taken into the Cl camp when they are required.
