TROTSKY'S RAVINGS. THE ENTENTE VIRULENTLY ATTACKED. FOR NOT JOINING IN PEACE NEGOTIATIONS. ACCUSED OF APPROVING GERMAN DEMANDS. United Press. Received Feb. 3, 5.5 p.m. New York, Feb. 1. The United Press agent at Petrograd interviewed Trotsky, who said: "1 believe Mr. Lloyd George and President Wilson should have joined the RussoGcrman negotiations if they really desired peace. They would have thus smashed the main weapon whereby Germany maintains her internal discipline. The Entente's refusal has enabled the Kaiser to show tho workmen that the Allies want Germany." Trotsky added: "General negotiations would have created a world-wide peace sentiment. Any attempt to renew the war would have resulted in the overthrow of all governments. That is why the Entente refused to join. They still hope to crush the Central Powers, but do not desire to Sacrifice Imperialism. Inasmuch as the belligerents refused to join in the negotiations, President Wilson's and Lloyd George's formulae are merely scraps 'of paper, enabling the German Jmnerialists to Batiafy their appetites at Russia's expense. We, therefore, believe the Entente silently approved of the German Brest-Litovsk demands. We are continuing negotiations, and hoping the Allies will still join. Wo are virtually warring against Roumania, heroine she is shutting off our troops and seizing our provinces." PEACE CONFERENCE ADJOURNED. QUESTION OF UKRAINIAN REPRESENTATION. Aus. and N.Z. A German wireless message states that Dr. Kuhlmann has agreed to the adjournment of the Brest Litovsk conference, in order to consider the question of opposing Ukrainian parties who are seeking to represent Ukraine. FINNISH GENERAL'S SUCCESS. ENTHUSIASM IN THE NORTH. RED GUARDS TERRORISE HELSINGFORS. BANK DIRECTORS ARRESTED. CITY COUNCIL DISSOLVED. Australian Cable Association. Received Feb. 3, 5.5 p.m. Stockholm, Feb. 2. General Mannheim continues his successful march southwards in Finland, disarming the Red Guards. He has occupied Twooerfors, , Kristinostadt and Tavastehus. There is great enthusiasm in Nortli Finland, where all the men between the ages of fifteen and sixty are joining the Government troops. Only Tornea, Kerns and Uleaborg remain in the hands of the Red Guards in North Finland. There has been fighting around Viborg. Hekingfors remains in the Red Guards' hands. Newspapers have been stopped, and officials are striking. Members of the Lantag and bank directors have been arrested, and the City Council has been dissolved. Government troops have occupied Raumo, Lovisa and Borga, in South Finland. ACTIVITY OF THE POLES. CAPTURE OF KIEFF CONFIRMED. UKRAINIANS JOIN SOVIETS. Renter Service. Received Feb. 3, 5.5 p.m. Petrograd, Feb. 3. T\, enty-six thousand Polish Legionaries, commanded by Polish generals, occupied Rogatcheff. The Provisional Soviet demanded their evacuation and submission to the Polish staff, intimating that the fate of a number of leading hostages depended thereon. The Maximalist agency confirms the report of the capture of Kiefl'. Three Ukrainian regiments, with artillery, have joined the Soviets, the whole garrison refusing to fight. SEIZURE OF ROUMANIAN SHIPS. REPUBLIC IN CRIMEA. Received Fob. 3, 5.3 p.m. Petrograd, Feb. 2. The Revolutionary Committee seized forty Roumanian steamers and several warships at Black Sea ports. Advices from the Caucasus state that a plague started 'in the Crimea; also that a republic'has been established in the Crimea, the entire population acknowledging it, FURTHER BOLSHEVIK CAPTURES. Received Feb. 2, 5.5 p.m. Petrograd, Feb. 1. Information from Minsk states that tho Polish Legions have declared war against the Bolsheviks. The United Press correspondent at Petrograd interviewed Trotsky, wlio declared that the terms of President Wilson ana Mi. Lloyd George were merely scraps of paper. Trotsky has issued a statement that Russia is virtually at war with Roumania. Trotsky added: "If the Allies do not participate in the Brest Lftovsk Conference we will take whatever actiori. will give the best advantages to revolutionary Russia. A BOLSHEVIK CLAIM. KALEDIN DESERTED. ANARCHISTS FORM A PARTY. THREAT AGAINST AMERICAN AMBASSADOR. Received Feb. 2, 5.5 p.m. Petrograd, Feb. 1. Bolshevik papers claim a 'big success against the Cossacks. They say that General Kaledin is practically deserted. A new party lias arisen, called "Independent Anarchists." They denounce the Bolsheviks as the bourgeoiso Government. The anarchists threaten to hold the American Ambassador personally responsible for the safety of tbeir 400 comrades who were sentenced in America for evading the military drafts law. THE ALLIED EMBASSIES. RUMORED DEPARTURE FROM PETROGRAD. BOLSHEVIKS SURPRISED. ROUMANIA AND BESSARABIA. BOLSHEVIKS WOKING FOR TROUBLE. Received Feb. 2, 5.5 p.m. Ebndon, Feb. 1. It is rumored that the Allied embassies are leaving Petrograd, owing to the Bolshevik attitude towards Roumanin. This has astonished and dismayed the Rolsheviks, whose view is that Roumania is on the verge of a badly-needed revolution, consequently the landowners are preparing to seize Bessarabia, with the collusion of the Besaarabian propertied classes, in order to compensate Roumania for the loss ol Dobrudja when she accepts peace from The Bolsheviks are astonished at the Allies supporting the Roumanian propertied classes, who are actually working in the interests of the Central Empires. THE REVOLUTIONARY ARMY. GOVERNMENT'S INANE MANIFESTO. Received Feb. 2, 5Jj p.m. Petrograd, Feb. 1. A Government manifesto, explaining the raising of the revolutionary army, says that whereas the old army ,was bourgeoise and an oppressive instrument, it will now be tho nucleus of a worldwide social democratic instrument for the freedom of all democracies.
