EPIDEMICS IN CAMP.

EFFECTIVE ANTI-SPREADING MEASURES. (Our Special Correspondent.) ' Wellington, Feb. 1, ' An outbreak of measles is reported at Featherston camp. The complaint is not taking a severe form, but it happens to have attacked the senior reinforcement at present in training. Some hundreds of men have had to be isolated, in accordance with the system that has proved bo successful in checking epidemics during the last twelve months, and consequently the departure of this reinforcement will be delayed for a few days. The camps have been remarkably free from epidemic sickness during the last twelve months. The medical examination of recruits for the detection of sick cases and "carriers," and tho prompt isolation of discovered patients, have proved most effective. Another factor in keeping the camps healthy has been the use of the inhalation chambers, where noxious germs are destroyed by medicated air.
