Owing to the insanitary conditions ai the result of the flood, a pestilence ia feared. At Mackay every building along the waterfront i 9 damaged almost beyond repair. Every vessel in the river at the time of the tidal wave, except one, was either wrecked or carried over the banks and depbsited'in the Berub. The water ia full of dead animals and birds, and the stench is terrible. Kockhampton is crowded with refugees, whom the, police are atill bringing in or relieving.
