EVERYBODY'S. LAST NIGHT OF "TRANSGRESSION" To-night will be the final screening of the Vitagraph Blue-Ribbon feature, with ]?a|cle Williams and Corinne Griffiths in the leading roles. This is a powerful picture, and deals in a realistic manner with the pressure that crooked politicians and black-mailing press sometimes bring to bear on various public servants who refuse to bow to their dastardly suggestions. It is a picture every person should see, as America is not the only place where this kind of blackmail is indulged. !
THE EMPIRE. CHARLIE CHAPLIN IN "SHANGHAIED/' The popular little comedian, Charlie Chaplin appears to-night and to-inor-row at the Empire in the picture that numerous picture goers vote to he his funniest effort, namely '"Shanghaied." Charlie's actions in this picture cause the onlooker almost uncontrollable mirth, and usually cause an overhauling of buttons the next day. On the same programme there is a five-reel star feature, "The Lash of Destiny," a gripping, romantic story which goes to illustrate that no matter what you may think about Destiny, Destiny will lash you from the cradle to the grave. Gertrude McCoy has the leading part in this production, that of a country girl, lured to the city by the glare of soceity life, and despite the temptations and pitfalls her "destiny" triumphs at the end. It is a picture that will please and interest all seekers after an evening's entertainment.
