DISTRICT NEWS.
I CARDIFF. (From Our Own Correspondent). A reliable "weather prophet'' is badly needed here during the haymaking season. Many local farmers had their hay spoiled during the former wet spell, and new others have to wait patiently for fine weather with their hay spoiling on the ground. On the other hand' the late rains have vastly improved the appearance of the root croops/and greatlv enhanced the milk yield. The Cardiff factory still maintains its full output and is experiencing As diffU cnlty than was expected in consigning >.t= produce. This season has proved the busiest since the war began, and owing to the gradual drain on the manhood of the country, busier times yet are ahead of the farmer, if he maintains the same rate of production. The balance sheet of the social tendered to Pte. Stewart shows a credit of 17s Od, which will be kept in hand for the next farewell social. The Cardiff school re-opens on Tuesday next (February 5), when once more the daily school routine will commence for the juvenile population.
