EMPIRE THEATRE, ■■ , . TO-NIGHT AND TO-MORROW.- : "SONS OP'THE EMPIRE,".- .; What is probably one of .the: finest selections of war pictures yet available will be displayed in the Empire: Theatre this evening. This series, "Sons of the Empire," was recently exhibited privately to an official audience, and created the liveliest interest. It is remarkably Extensive in respect to the'numerous activities represented, and deals in. a very satisfactory way with both the Army and the Navy. The naval pictures show the various types of -warships -which comprise that great fighting fleet of the Empire, from dreadnoughts to torpedocraft, and these pictures are full of vigor I and stirring quality. The army of the Empire, in which New Zealand is a full partner,. is displayed in great detail, and no pains have been spared to show the greatest possible number of incidents typical of its dairy work as well as of the big operations which mark its progress towards the end of the war. The pictures of a great offensive, beginning with the artillery preparation and carried on through pulverised farm lands and' ruined towns, are most impressive; while the artillery equipment of the vast forces, and the wonderful supply system are treated in the most illuminating manner. The pictures have a very great educational value which alone would justify the widest patronage. They are, however, destined to serve a patriotic end for the proceeds of the exhibittor.*, which are under the Y.M.CA. management and to be devoted to funds to add to the never sufficient comforts of the men who are fighting for the Empire. No matter where our men are, in the trenches or in camp or hospital, or recovering from wounds or sickness,-.they will be benefited by these conditions The box plan for the season is at- Collier's. The price.* for admission are D.C. .Is 6d. stalls Is, children 6d. There will be a matinee to-morrow aO-crnboir, when the admission rates will be D.C. Is, stalls Gd, with children half price. EVERYBODY'S. EARL!;: WILLIAMS IN "TRANS- ' GRESSION.'< A strong story of modern city life U linfoTdi'el in "Transgression," the greater .Vitagraph feature-play screening at Everybody's to-night and! to-morrow. Earle Williams portrays a man who has been successful in life, and occupies the leading position in his town. Through a strange set of circumstances he comes upon his young brother apparently the author of a hideous murder. Swiftiy the elder sets about removing all traces ot the crime. Later in life his action becomes known to some members of the unscrupulous political gang which he is endeavoring to chase out of the .country. His awful predicament is complicated by the fact that he is engaged to the (laughter of the Crown -Prosecutor. Corinne Griffith, a new Vitagraph star, makes her debut in this great drama, and she will soon be a popular idol. She is.a Southern beauty, with dainty ways and great emotional powers. The scenes of the play are sumptuously set, and' the whole achievement is one of which the ■hisr American company can be justly proud. . I
