LBPITItTON. A social to welcome home Lieut. Chas. Lepper was held in the Lepperton hall last week. On behalf of the residents of Lepperton, Mr. F. W. Atkinson, chairman of the Patriotic Committee, „x.pressed the pleasure all felt at seeing their guest home again. Lieut. Lepper suitably responded. During the evening songs were sung by the Misses Atkinson, Ackiaud, and Turnbull. the latter being encored. Mr. R. Giddy also sang a comic song. Mr. Cloke, who recently met with somewhat serious injuries a's a result of a fall from a eart. is. 1 am pleased to say, making a good recovery at the New Plymouth hospital. Mr. Max Lepper is also at the hospital, where he is undergoing treatment for an internal trouble. Mr, F. Taylor has disposed of his farm to Mr. Jlopson, of Waitui, who takes possession shortly. Mr. Taylor and family are, I understand, .taking up their residence in New Plymouth. The annual Methodist' Sunday School picnic was held in Mr. Roberts' groir last Thursday. The sun's heat was tempered by a fine breeze, and evervone thoroughly -enjoyed the orthodox r. -s and games incidental to picnics. The 'ladies of C.a congregation had provided a plenteous and dainty tea, which, needleas to say, was enjoyed, to the "fr." " The Education Board has approved of the plans for the enclosures to be built for the school children's swimming classes, and the work is to he undertaken immediately. Much sympathy is expressed for Mrs. Wallace, who has recently received word of the death of her brother in France
