MATRICULATION EXAMINATION.
NEW REGULATIONS By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Jan. 24. ' The University Senate resolved that the following be added to the regulations for the matriculation examination: —A candidate of mature years may pass the .matriculation examination in two sections. Two or more subjects shall constitute a fiection, and the remaining subjects shall constitute the second section. That the two senior icholarships no longer awarded specially for mathematics and physics respectively shall in future be awarded to such candidates in whatever subject as may seorn to the Senate most deserving. The report by the Entrance TLx-.i mi nation Committee wa» explained by Professor Segar and Dr. Anderson. It makes a science compulsory in matriculation on all candidates taking the -minimum number of subjects, with the proviso that by taking extra a candidate may escape' science. The report as a. whole was referred' back to the committee, to consider the-amendment by Mr. Tihbs to he effect thai, candidates for matriculation might takt physics and chemistry.
