<•» A LABOR PROTEST. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Wellington branch of the Amalgamated Society of Carpenters and Joiners lias forwarded to the Minister of Labor a resolution protesting against the Order-in-Conncil providing for the suspension of the Conciliation and Arbitration Act and awards and industrial agreements in so far as they restrict the employment of discharged soldiers, and expressing the opinion that the proposals are reactionary, and calculated to place discharged soldiers at the mercy of those who may be unscrupulous enough to take advantage of their position and pension, and place autocratic powers in the hands of the inspectors of factories, and undermine and reduce the standard of living of the workers eeaeralLv>
