REGISTRATION OF ALIENS.
AN INTERIM RETURN. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Lost Night. The Minister for Internal stated to-day that tSio registration of aliens under the Act passed last session had been going on satisfactorily and the registration officers had the work well in hand, although returns are still comingin. Up to and including January 21, 4085 aliens had been registered. The following are the numbers and the countries of oijgin of the aliens registered: Austria 1017, Germany 481?, Greece 69, Italy 162, Prance AS, Norway 229, Portugal 3, Russia 363, Spain 29, Sweden 300, Belgian 101, Switzerland 81, other Europeans 98, China 1297, Japan 6, Syria 104, Egmt % other Africans 3, Argentina 7, fc CUIU.
