ASSETS SOLD BY AUCTION The assets of the Dominion Portland . Cement Companv, Ltd., which was put into the hands of the liquidator, Mr, E. T. Tyre, on November' 30 last, consequent on a decision of debenture holders, were submitted to public auction on Friday last, at the Auckland Chamber of Commerce, by Mr. A. R. Crane. There were about 30 persons present. The assets were divided into two lots. Lot 1, comprised'a freehold property, situated' at Portland, Whangarei Harbor, And con- , taining approximately 2000 acres, toge--1 ther with all working and residential buildings thereon; the whole of t!i£. machinery and plant which has an output) capacity of 80,000 tons a year; the Waima Falls power scheme,, which supplies electric current to the borough of Whangarei and to the company's cement ■works; and a freehold property at Ware. HHkurangi, of approximately 20 acres, from which the companv draws its supply of white limestone. Lot 2 comprised the stock of raw.materials, materials in process of manufacture., manufactured stocks, and book debts, of a total hook value of £10,53.0 1,3s lOd. j Lot 1 was first submitted and drew a bid of .€110,00?) by Mr. V.. Gerard. This 'bid was increased to £ 128,500, the. reserve figure, by Mr! Gerard, who was thereupon declared the purchaser. There were no other bidders. Mr Gerard also became the purchaser of Lot "2 at the price of .€9250,. there being no other bidders. .
