I The Wellington Times; in its report of the Cnp race on Saturday, says: A.n excellent start was effected, all the horses getting on their feet at once. When they passed the stand, Nobleman was a length cli-nr of Adjutant, who led Alteration and Teka. At the mile post, the order was the same, with Red Ribbon moving up fast. A furlong further on Teka displaced Alteration, Red Ribbon being just behind him. The leader was going on full of running, being nicely handled by H. Young. At the five-furlong post Snub and Miss De Val were at the taj] : end of the field, and from there the latter commenced to move up. Four furlongs from home Nobleman was in front of Adjutant, Red Ribbon, Johnny Walker and Miss De Val, the last-named putting in some great work. That order was maintained till the straight was reached, where Nobleman was a couple of lengths clear of Red Ribbon, who had headed Adjutant. A great finish resulted in the favorite gaining the vordlet by a length and a half. Miss De Val was three lengths behind Red Ribbon. Then came Adjutant, Johnny Walker, Multiply and Alteration. Chortle was last, Teka being just in front of him. Time, 2mm 35 3-ssec.
