DOMINION TOURNAMENT. SEMI-FINAL STAGE NEARLY REACHED. By Telegrapli.—Press Association. Duuedin, Last Night. The rinks competitions were carried forward to-day nearly to the semi-final stage. The principle of "sudden death" was not adopted, sectional wins being the order of the day. In the first section, Smith (Otago) won outright, winning all three games, and thus qualifying fov the final. In the second Bection Walker (Ponsonby) and Smellie (Green Island) tied, with one loss each. In the third section, Watts (Otago) had three wins, and Casey (Ponsonby) and Gray (Kelbum) two wins each. Casey, having a bye, must meet Gray tomorrow, and the winner will have to meet Watts to decide the winner of the section. Results of to-day's Jilay are as follows: First Section: First Round.—Noble (Newtown) 26 v. Pastier (Caversham) 16; Smith (Otago) lft v. Johnson (Dunedin) 14. Second Round. —Johnson 24 v. Fastier 16; Smith 20 v. Noble 8. Third Round. —Smith 19 v. Fastier 18; Johnson 21 v. Noble 13. Smith won the section. Second Section: First Round.—Bailey (Haitaitai) 22 v. Walker (I'onsonby) 18; Smellie (Green Island) 20 v. Fraser (United) 13. Second Round.—Fraser 29 v. Bailey 10; Walker 29 v. Smellie 20. Third Round.—Walker 25 v. Fraser 19; Smellie 19 v. Bailey 17. j Smellie and Walker tied Third Section: ' First Round.—Wylie (Te Hiwi) 16 v. Casey (I'onsonby) 11; Watts (Otago) 20 v. Gray (Kelburn) 14. Colville a bye. Second Round.—Watts 21 v. Wylie 13; Casey 22 v. Colville 17; Gray a bye. Third Round.—Casey 21 v. Watts 19; Gray 16 v. Colville 14; Wylie a bye. Fourth Round.—Watts 14 v. Colville 10; Gray 13 v. Wylie U; Casey a bye. To-morrow the pairs competition will be continued as the players ara released from the rinks.
