Swiss advices confirm the gravity of the difficulties of 'Berlin at the Brest Litovsk conference. -The proceedings at the latter have arrived at a deadlock owing to Russian stubbornness ,in demanding a constitution for Poland. Consultations wif-h Berlin raise the question of a military demonstration to bring the Russian delegates to terms, even to the extent of threatening the occupation of Petrograd and Moscow.

REAL MEANING DISTORTED. SIGNIFICANT RESERVATIONS. Received Jan. 17, 8.50 p.m. Petrograd, Jan. 10. It is officially declared that the German version of the peace pourparlers distorts the real meaning. Baron von Kuhlrnann said the German Government reserved the right to delete everything tending to. excite the German masses.
