SEASIDE CONCERT.

•AT NGAMOTU PALLADIDIfc A very successful and enjoyable cat' cert was given at the Ngamotu Pglladium Jast night. It is the custom of the committee to hold some kind of entertainment each Thursday night, and last night was the first time a concert programme had been arranged: There was a very gratifying attendance, the room being full. The proceeds of thb entertainments will be devoted towards paying for the piano which has just been installed. The concert opened with a selection entitled "Norma," by the Ngamotu orchestra, consisting of Miss M. P. Leitch (piano), Mr. L. Webber (violin), Mr. R. .1. Deare, conductor (flute), Mr. K. Ward (clarinet), Mr. H. Voght (comet) and Mr. C. C. Ward (saxophone). Songs were given by Miss J. Cocker ("Buy My Roses" and "Wniata T?oi"), Miss M. F. Leitch ("Oh Dry Those Tears," with violin and clarinet obligato by Messrs L. Webber and K. Ward respectively). Mr. R. B. Macdonald sang "When You Gome Home," and "Kings of the Road," and Mr. L. Webber sang "Ka Mate, Ka, Mate." Duets were sung by Miss J. Cocker and Mr. L. Webber, who contributed "In Springtime," and Messrs R. B. Macdonald and Ij. Webber' rendered "Watchman, What of the Night?" The vocal quartette "Oil Who Will O'er the Downs?" was given by the Misses Cooker and Leitch and Messrs. P. Fredric and Webber. An instrumental trio entitled dantino" (Lemare) was played by Miss Leitch (piano), Mr. L. WebDer (violin)£ and Mr. K. Ward (clarinet). My. Webber contributed the violin solo "Berceuse" (Goddard). The accompaniments were played by Mrs. Fredric and Miss Leitch. AH the items were very well received, encores being demanded in practically every ease. During an interval in the programme, Mr. R. ,1. Deare, in the absence of the chairman (Mr. J. W. Hayden), announced that Miss Vera Brookes was the winner of the gold watch competition held in connection with the New Year picnic. The concert terminated with .the sinking of the National Anthem.
