The United Press correspondent at Tokio reports that disorders are increasing at Vladivostock, and that a battle between the Bolsheviks and the Cossacks is imminent. The Daily Chronicle's Stockholm correspondent interviewed Sir George Buchanan, British Ambassador to Russia, who is returning to London. He said the Bolsheviks have attained such ft position at present that nobody can overthrow them. Their trump cards arc peace and general war-weariness. They will remain in power until the people learn that they qannot realise their promises. The Bolsheviks cannot tfo regarded as representative of the whole of Russia. South Russia is going its own way. The Bolsheviks have now summoned the Constitutional Assembly, but in Sir George Buchanan's opinion it is the Soviets who are still the real holders of power. It is impossible to foretell the results of the Brest Litovsk negotiations. M. Trotsky seems to be trying to establish a separate peaee, hut he Is also carrying on a propaganda in the German eastern armies. The Propaganda had some results. Kaledin, Kerensky, and Korniloff are waiting a chance to bring about order in Russia. No ohnnq-e can be expected in the near future. Russia has finished her role as an active Power in this war.

DEMONSTRATIONS AGAINST GERMANY. BEING PREPARED BY THE BOLSHEVIKS. Received Jan. 15, 8.20 p.m. Washington, Jan. 14. Official reports from Petrograd state that demobilised Russian officers have been ordered to report for service immediately. This is interpreted to mean that the Bolsheviks are planning an armed demonstration against Germany.

INTERNAL FIGHTING. ' IN THE DON PROVINCE. Reuter Service. Received Jan. 15, 0.40 p.m. ' Petrograd, Jan. 14. A despatch states that Rostoff, on the Don, and the station at Debaltasovo, on the Katerinoslav railway, have thrice changed hands. The Cossacks, on Thursday night, learning of the despatch from LugansUaya of considerable Bolshevik reinforcements with artillery, left the station and took up a position near the railway awaiting their own reinforcements from Marnipol. Fighting was renewed on Friday morning, when the Bolsheviks advanced from the direction of Toganroff. During Friday a strong force of Don, Terek, and Kuban Cossacks from Togranroff proceeded northwards. It is stated that General Kaledin is also going north. A despatch from Ufa states the Bolsheviks' artillery arrived, and that the town is in the hands ot the Bolsheviks, who seized the banks and Government buildings. The Bolsheviks are sending considerable forces, with artillery, to Oheliabinsk, where serious fighting is anticipated,
