PARMAKA ROAD BOARD.
. MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting waj held oa Thursday at Kahotu, wiien the following members were in attendance: Messrs Jus. Young (chairman), T. Harvey, W. (ireen and \V. B. Smith. Wednesday in each week was fixtd fur the closing day for ohops from 1 o'clock. A meeting of ratepayers was advertised to be held in connection witb the closing of part of the I'ungarehu road, and opening another part instead. Only the Board members were present. A formal resolution was carried that the road be closed. The foreman's report was rea:'. It stated that 200 yards of boulders had been sot out. for the Opua road, and the men were now getting stone for the Armvhnta road A pipe culvert had been fii't in at tlr sale yards at Tiahotu. The bin ditch was being cleared out on the upper Kalyii road The Warea bridge decl-iht' had bepn repaired. Crushing VM'.id lie sinned nfrair. on Friday. * The foreman recommended calling lenders for the Hi chains of Stent road, as I lie Hoard's men would lie busy with : the crusher. The Hoard decided to in vite tenders to ho in on the ]Bth inst. The foreman reminded the Board that * bridge on the Xewall road should be .vijiiilt. The Hoard decided to inspect fie place ne,Kt Friday. Riki Kahui waited on the Board, and 'sV.ed that some fences which are across the road be removed. Tt was resolved to ask the owners to remove the fences in .ine month. The Board is to ask the County Coun,«il to subsidise ttc Board £ for {! to l-nnko a concrete channel along the Post Oflice frontage* to the Kaliui road, as the flood water from South road is doing damage. Mr. Fischer asked the Board to give him access to his sections on the Tauru road, as the river had cut the road away. The chairman and overseer are to look into the matter. Mr. Picrson wrote that he bad been wrongfully charged for some pipes that weer put in main road at Warea.—lt transpired that the County Council should have been charged. The Kgmont County Council wrote that ihev could not: agree to the Board's suggesting to divert the flood water in Rahotu. The I.H. Co. notified that they intended to put a second gear into the roller. The overseer is to report to ne-.-' • I ing on the cost of completing f metalled part of the lower Kina road, ilso tiie cost of the crushing which was done on the Cape road. Accounts amounting to £387 were passed.
