A FINE DRIVE. Mr. Boyd Edkins, the well-known X.SS.W. motorist, has succeeded in establishing a particularly fine drive under adverse road conditions over the Interstate route between Brisbane and Sydney. a distance of 037 miles. Owing' to recent heavy rains in Queensland', Air. Edkins was nearly abandoning bis proposed attempt on the existing figures, but decided to tackle Mr. F. Birtles' record of 2!) hours 35 minutes, despite the fact that the road was well n igli impossible in places. He left Brisbane at 2 a.m. Friday and arrived at Sydney at .! minutes past 4 nil Saturday morning, his time for the journey bein" ■■ hours 3 minutes, exactly Hi 'hours "better than the previous record. Many delays occurred on the journey, and' considerable time was lost owing to breakages. Tfc was a remarkable fdat to get through at all m the circumstances. Mr. J'.dkms mount was a 2"> h.p Prince Henry '■Vauxhall," shod with T>unlon tyres which came through the r>niellip'<r drive without being touched. Air. Ed" kins is the present, holder of |h, bourne-Sydney (3(1:, record which stands at 1(S hours sr. minutes, one of (■lie greatest drives yet recorded in this country.
