The Bolshevik Agency states that attfjmpts to break the power of the Soviets an; crumbling. General Dutoff lias been beaten and is fleeing. General lyiledin's troops are defeated and retreating. EostolV has been liberated, and the Cossacks at the front arc unanimously against General Kaolin. All troops sent to the Don country are returning.
KALEDIN'S FOLLOWING. ONLY CONCERNED WITH DON DISTRICT. AI.KXIEFF FAVORS FIGHTING THE BOLSHEVIKS. Received Jan. 11, 8.30 p.m. Petrograd, Jan. 10. The majority of the Cossacks are following General Kaledin, who considers the main business of the Cossacks is to consolidate democratic and republican power in the Don district. He considers it undesirable to interfere with the inner life of other parts of the Russian Republic, and is only ready to fight the Bolsheviks if they adopt an aggressive policy against the Don Cossacks. General Alexieff, who is leading the oflicers' corps, which is '25,000 strong, however, considers it necessary to organise for a struggle against the Bolsheviks on an all-Russian scale, so as to create a' Moderate-Liberal regime for Russia. Monarchial principles are strong among the Alexietf group. Savinkoff supports Alexieff ( considering that strong measures are necessary against the Bolsheviks. General Kornilolf is not taking any active part in the controversy.' The Bolshevik forces which are concentrated on the, Don border are fraternising with the Cossacks.
