ADDINGTON MARKET.* CliristehureTi, Jan. 9. At the Addington market a fair entry of fat lambs was submitted, and a good yarding of fat cattle, but the entries were small in almost all the other departments. The attendance was only fair, as farmers are now busy with urgent work. The fat cattle, which included a fair proportion of prime steers, sold well, prices being above export lcvtl for all hut a few cows. Fat sheep were somewhat easier, as some of the butchers were not in want of supplies, and export buyers were able to make purchases. Store cattle that were well grown and forward in condition were in demand, but other descriptions were dull of sale. Pigs of all classes, except porkers. sold well. Quotations:— Two-tooth ewes 23s (id to 29s 3d 4 and C-tooth ewes 29a fid, south-mouth ewes to 20s, sound-mouth ewes and lambs 17s 3d and 18s 3d (all counted) 2-tooth wethers 23s 9d to 30s 9d, mixed six lambs 20s lOd to 23s lid. l'at, lambs—Prime lambs 25s Gd to 27s lOd, lighter lambs 23s Bd to 255. Prime wethers 38s (id, 41b, extra 15s lid, good oos, 375, medium H2s. 33s lid, prime ewes 335, 3js Id, good 2'Js fid, 31s, medium 2(is lid, 2i^s. Fat lambs—The yarding was small, and prices very firm oil last week's extreme rates. .The quality was only moderate, with some of indifferent quality. Best 28s, 325, medium 245, 20s fid, light 21s, 225. Pigs-—Medium yarding of fat and stores. Fat pigs met with ready sale at prices on a par with last week'? rates. For store pigs there was] good competition, and high prices ruled.
