HIGH COMMISSIONER'S MARKET REPORT.

The Department of Agriculture,. Industries, and Commerce, has received the following cablegram, dated London, January 5, IMS, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand. (Note—Quotations, unless otherwise specified,, are average market prices on spot):— Meat.—Demand is in excess of supply for all descriptions of meat, all selling at maximum prices. Owing to continued small supplies of home-killed mutton and beef, the Food' Ministry have placed a quantity of Australian mutton and New .Zealand iamb at the> market to be sold 'in poorer districts, wholesale price in each ease Ukl. Argentine beef, small | supplies, nominal quotations. Argentine chilled beef, hinds, 113 d; fores, O'/jd. Butter,—No supplies available of any description, no quotations. By order of the Government importation is prohibited of Irish creamery except under licence. Cheese.—Cheese is very scarce, with the exception of good supplies of Dutch, all selling at Government prices. Hemp.—Manila and New Zealand markets firm but little doing. Manila output two weeks ending December 2'i, 59,000 bales.

Wheat and Oats.—Market quiet, hut steady.
