Received Jan. 10, 10.20 p.m. London, Tan. 0 The survivors of the three destroyers lost on the Dutch Coast on the night of December 22 give a thrilling narrative of the courage and enterprise of all raiikft. They say the vessels had fulfilled their important duties on a dark, foggy night, when the first destroyer was struck. She asked for assistance. The others came up. Everything that would flpat was flung overboard. The destrovers ignored the mine and submarine risks, and succeeded in saving many. The commander of one of the destroyers was blown overboard.by the explosion, but was rescued and resumed command. A surgeon who for some hours was adopt, when rescued attended to the wounded. The engine-room staff showed exemplary coolness throughout, though in imminent clanger. PITIFUL SCENES, TWO VESSELS SUNK WITH ATI, HANDS. Received Jan. S), 10.45 p.m. London, Jan. 8. There were pitiful scenes of mourning at Waterford, where two Irish vessels were sunk by submarines. The vessels are traceless. A portion of the wreckage of a lifeboat was washed ashore. Not a member of the two crews is alive to tell the tale. U-BOAT y. COLLIER. THE SUBMARINE SUNK. Received Jan. 9, 5.5 p.m. London, Jan. 8. The Daily Chronicle's Cork correspondent states that a powerful U-boat attacked a small collier carrying a light gun. The collier tTred at four hundred yards, a second shot sinking the submarine. CHINESE SHIPS COLLIDE. 100 LIVES LOST. Reecived Jan. A, 8.55 p.m. Shanghai, Jan. 8. The steamer Toochi collided with the steamer TSainfong outside Woosing. The Toochi was sunk, a hundred of those on board being drowned, including the captain and chief officer. PEACE TALK. DUTCH DISAPPOINTMENT. NO HOPE OF ALLIES PARTICIPATING IN PEACE TALK. Received Jan. The Dutch comment on Mr. Lloyd George's speech reveals disappointment at the destruction of all hope of the ■Entente participating in the peace negotiations at present. The Telegraaf says the peace the Entente wants is a peace satisfying everybody except those wishing to enrich themselves at the oxpor.se of other nationalities
