OUR REINFORCEMENTS.

AN INCREASE UNLIKELY. Wellington, Jan. 6. New Zealand's rate of reinforcement is at present lower than at any time during tho last two years, and if no change is made the mobilisation of the Second Division will not proceed beyond Classes A and B during the present year. But there have been reports that the rate of reinforcement might be increased again presently. Speaking on this subject today, the Minister of Defence said he had no reason to anticipate another change in the quota. New Zealand was in a very good position with regard to reinforcements, thanks to the regular despatch of the drafts at full strength, and could meet emergencies confidently. He would not draw comparisons, but lie felt that the New Zealand people, and the New Zealand soldiers, could be congratulated. The New Zealand Division would be kept at full strength during the campaign of 1018.
