TARANAKI AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY.

MEETING OF GENERAL COJLUITTEK. A meeting of the general committee of the. Taranaki Metropolitan. Agricultural Society was held ou Saturday.. Mr J S. Connutt presided, and there were also present: Messrs W. B. Grant, H. Burton, Herbert Ward, C. Dobson, F. Hodson, H. Sampson, 15. Honeyfield, W. McKcnzie, 0., W Reube, and A. T. Moore. An apology for absence was receive;', troni 'Mr. A. E. Turnbull. It was decided to refer tha matter of the defective chimney and water-pipe line to the grounds committee for attention. It was resolved that Mr. J. R. Hill ibe appointed supervising steward to attend to any dispute that might arise at the gates, and that the New Plymouth Bowling Club be approached in order to secure leave on. tho two show dsys. A sub-committee, consisting of Messrs Connett, Grant, Honeyfield, Moore, and Fail-brother, was set up to go into tho matter of procuring suitable numbers for the riding and driving events. A sub-committee, consisting of Messrs Connett and Grant, was also set up to arrange for the conveyance of exhibits 011 tlie morning of the fiiovr. Messrs Grant, Colson, C. Iloskin, and •Johnstone were appointed a paddocking and train committee, and Messrs Nolan, Moore, and Fairbrother an advertising committee.

It was resolved that ». vote of thank* he coneeyed to Mr. C. Colson for kindly placing at tlu* society's disposal a pad dock for the planting of green fodder tor the autumn show; also to Mr. L F Laurent for preparing the ground, and doing the planting. It was decided to provide additional fences for the tieing of horses at slio-v time.

Tt was further decided: That the. soeiety place on,record its very sincere appreciation of the generosity of Mr T> H. Western. j„ donatio *'- amount of Ins debentures, nearly £,> i), to the funds of the society, and of Messrs Clifford Bros, for their donation of £47 ss, this ainount.being the proceeds of the sale of a pedigree Friesian bull sold on behalf of the society. That, in further recognition of their generosity, Mr. Western and Messrs Clifford Bros, he elected life members of tho society and be presented with a life membership bailee That this meeting also tenders its thanks to t.e donors of stock in connection with the society'., special appeal for funds tor effecting further improvements at the stock show grounds: to Mr. Kin° Ifor having donated his to th ™ society, and to the proprietors of the ■ Taranaki Daily News and Taranaki Herald for free advertising.
