SUICIDE AT ASHBURTON. By Telegraph—Press Association. Aslvburton, Jan. 8. An elderly man, named James Hawkins, committed suicide last evening. Ho strangled himself with binder twine. lie placed a noose round his neck and tied the other end to a door handle, and pulled hack until he was suffocated. He left ii letter to the Public Trustee telling liiin how to dispose of his property, and three other letters to friends. It is supposed he had 'been drinking hea.vily f during the holidays,
