Protracted Cabinet meetings are in progress discussing the situation arising ottt of the defeat ,of the referendum and the question of leadership Sir John Forrest declined to accept the decision of the rest of his colleagues to stand or fall together on the result of the referendum, holding that he was not bound bv such a pledge. PoWibly finality will be reached to-day. It is anticipated that the Government will announce its decision to resign and leave the National Party to take what action it desires. Probably the party will ask the Government to continue in office and reconstruction will follow.
