Six- William Eraser was born' in India :n JB4O. his father, Captain Hugh Eraser, being an oflicer fit tlte Madras Light Cavalry. He arrived in Wellington in ■September, ISSS, proeeeded to Dnnedin, and became a run-holder in the 'Dunstau district, where he remained until 18!>3. He was elected a member of tile Otago Provincial Council in I8<i(;. He entered the House of Kepresentatives as member for Wakatipii in ISD3, and has held the seat continuously up to the present time. Whim Mr. MasseV formed a Ministry in July, 11)12, Mr. Eraser was allotted the portfolios of Mines and Public Works. He retained the portfolio of Public Work? in the National Government. SIR JOHN SINCLAIR. Sir John T!. Sinclair is an ex-member of the Legislative Council, and was one of the members of the Dominions' Royal Commission. He was born at Anglcsea, North Wales, in ISiril, came to New Zealand as a child, and was educated at the Dnnedin Boys' High School. He became a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of New Zealand in 1873, and was a member of the Legislative Council between LOO? and I9M. He Ims taken a keen interest in educational matters. COLONEL C. M. GIBBON, C.M.G. Colonel C. M. Gibbon, Chief of the General Stall' in New Zealand, is an officer of the Imperial General Staff. His regiment is His Koyal Irish Fusiliers. Ho saw much service during' the South African War, and was present at the relief of Ladysmith, including the action at Ooler.so. He .served from*']B.o!) to 1002, and received the Queen's Medal with four slasps Subsequently he was engaged on special staff work in'the United Kingdom and abroad. LIEUT.-COLONEL I, E. BARRETT, C.M.G.
'_ Lieutenant-Colonel L. K. Burnett, C.M.(l, is a native of Wellington, having been born there in IS6T> He took his medical degree at Edinburgh in ISSS, and after serving; in hospitals in Kndand .became lecturer on surgery at the Oiago Medical School in 1805. He was president of the New Zealand Medical Association in 1907. During the war period he has undertaken military duties. MAJOR NORTON FRANCIS. C.M..G. Major Norton Francis. CM.'"!., became District Senior Officer of the Canterbury Motor-car Section in August. 1914. hi November, 1915, he was appointed Director of Kasc Records in order that his business knowledge and experience might be 'utilised in the reorganisation and operation or that branch'of the Defence Department.
