SPORTING.

STRATFORD ANNUAL "MKKm'C. I'INCLL' \U.\S Till;: til'. Beautiful weather favored the Stratford Racing Club for the annual meeting, which Mas held yesterday on the club's picturesque course. A high wind dried the course and lawns, and the going was iirstclass, as the times recorded show. The racing was of a high order, reflecting credit upon the club's hafidicapper {Mr. J. L. Henrys) and starter (Mi-. Alt'. Morse), and'the judge (Mr. J. E. L. Stanford) gave general satisfaction in the box, hoisting his placing* promptly and accurately. The starter had a lot of uneducated horses to handle, but came through the ordeal well. The Stratford Cup was one of the finest races seen on the course, the New Plymouth-trained Dingle just winning from Parana, who was in a bad position until well up the straight, and Minister, White Blaze and Alteration finished on their heels. Tnah repeated her Xew Plymouth success, scoring from end to cud, while "form" was well carried out by Yolo and Royal Chef. The hurdle race resulted in a boilover, Mr. B. H. Chancy's Speedwell Mac paying a great dividend, while the run-ner-up also presented his backers with a handsome solatium. Both horses, and also Lady Mylchrcest, who sprung a surprise in the Midhirst Hack Handicap, were turned out by the local trainer, J-:, (leorge. The secretary. Mr. A. Coleman, and his expert stall' kept everything right up to the mimite, and capable management had much'to du towards making the gathering a success. The totalisator stall' were kept busy, the sum of ,-t!'i'.),r)ll for one day being put through the machine, as against C-)M,:!"2S (for two days) last year. .Jockey C. Price rode four winners. Mr. C. Patterson acted as stipendiary steward, but no official notice of enquiries was given to the press. Results:
