Some close and interesting games were played in section play, and there were one or two surprises. In ouch section the leaders of the first day suffered reverses. In section A, in which only 12 heads were played.. McNeill IFit/.roy). who find won his three games on Tuesday, was defeated by A. K. Smart, who had lost one game the previous day and. being undefeated yesterday, tied McNeill in the section and defeated him in the play-off. In Section 15, Johnson (New Plymouth), who had been undefeated, lost 'both games. Medley (New Plymouth), who had one loss, won both games yesterday and thus won the section. Medley was leading in th* earlier stages, hut H. Smart made up the leeway, and at the conclusion of the 20th head had a lead of two, which he increased to five in the 2ht head. THE FINAL. The fma] Tfetween A. K. and 11. Smart proved very interesting throughout, though it was manifest that A. Smart had to bear the burden of the plav, except that his lead. Hooper, was consistently 'good throughout, plaving a great game. At the sixth head the scores were equal (7 all), and at the tenth head A K Smart led by three, but R. Smart's third (Firth) put in two excellent shots, and the skip improved matters, so that the gam was a. full nam! and a lead of two, and from then to the close of the game never lost the advantage. At the Kith head the score was: if. Smart 17, A. Smart 12. The next head was the best played. H. Smart was 4up when his opponent drove and got two up, only to lose the advantage by his brother'drawing the shot, but A. K. Smart drove out the shot bowl, scoring a point. The next head was equally exciting. 11. Smart eventually seormg 2, and leading by 20 to 1-1. and at the IPth head was 24 to 17. The next two heads were burnt and on the !a.st bead A. K.
