The College student who subsequently becomes Plain Jane's husband is an opportunity for Charles Ray in a new type o, -role. He k a serious-minded student who lives onty for books and a career until he really discovers how bright the servant is. Bessie Barriseale does cleverwork as the untidy, ba-diy dressed girlf who under the influence of a Httie admiration blossoms out in the (most remarkable way. A fine olf-set to Jane is provided by Btheida RatMtonc, the daughter of one of the college professors who angfea for the student with devotion and earnest persistence. In "A Daughter of the Gods," to be screened at Everybody's next Tuesday And Wednesday Mr. William Fox has succeeded in producing a film that is said to be an artistic triumph among .moving pictures. "A Daughter of the Gods" lias i Attained its right to eminence by it,*' : sheer beauty. According to one critic,! it tells a pretty fairy story, it combines a delightful mature of fantasy and ro- j mance, and ft provides many thriOicg I episodes and (juai"t fancies. The film! teems with marvels of motion picture product ion. The beholders of the picture were led through •< land of caliphs and sheiks and beautiful women, through 'the subterranean depths where seafolk dwell, to the. enchanted forests of the gnomes. The part of Ahit'-i, the daughter of the gods, is taken by Miss Annette Kellermann. Anitisi is set about with jealousies and the forces of evil. In one .of . the scones in the quaint land of the gnomes she gives a remarkable exhibition of diving. In another portion of the story, her swimming in very heavy tempestuous seas, among great rocks, is as thrilling as it is daring, and her presence is one of the most important inigralients of the pictured success.
